Igoor is fortunate to lie in an area blessed with great favorable weather, was administered by enlightened kingdoms & got developed both in horticultural produce in addition to commercial crops. The trend continued even with the British Raj. Vast tracts were identified to cultivate commercial crops like Cardamom, Pepper, Coffee, Ginger, etc,. This resulted in an abundance of skilled workforce locally. When the local families started taking an interest in these fields, they started acquiring these fields from the British who were on the wane. It’s interesting to note that IGOOR is the second oldest Coffee-growing region in India, next only to ‘Bababudangiri’ in Chickmagaluru!!. ‘IGOOR FAMILY’ thus emerged as the leader in the profession and continues to be one of the largest & respected
