Our farm, which is located on the eastern edge of the western ghats, near Dharwad is developed based on the principles of permaculture. This methodology includes slowing down the run off water which is absorbed into the land and mulching the soil with the green manure as well as the live mulch. This helps in maintaining the moisture content of the soil and enriches the soil. We have more than 50 species of trees which includes both native forest trees as well the the fruit trees like Mango, Cashew, Goose berries, Jack fruit, Moringa, Curry leaves, turmeric, tamarind to note a few. We grow seasonal vegetables and grains like Ragi, Barnyard millet, paddy, sesame seeds, Niger seeds etc. All the crops are grown naturally without the usage of any chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
