Syed Ghani Khan can be called the Mango man of south India, Bada Bagh the 20 acre ancestral mango orchard under the families care since seven generations is home to around 116 verities of mangos, most of the trees are around 200 + years old as confirmed by carbon dating by the Genetics and Plant Breeding Department of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. It is said that Tipu Sultan brought these varieties of mangoes from different parts of the world, Khan's ancestors were among those who planted them. So the mangos which you are buying could be coming from a sapling collected by the Tiger of Mysore himself.
