Poetics “The Mooseman”. How “man” introduces the “Perm animal style”
Here is such a melting syllable in this game, such a language of narrative. “The Mooseman” (“Human”) is an original project based on the mythology of Komi peoples. Ancient myths and traditions on which the plot relies are carefully collected in a single, slender and very atmospheric picture. The player is waiting for an immersion in a special world of amazing legends, filled with perfumes and living according to his own unusual laws.
Idols, totems, images of spirits – our ancestors carefully retained their worldview, their thrill and respect for the invisible, but powerful world.
The plot of the game, as stated in the preface, is “artistic reconstruction of myths”. In short, what our ancestors invented, and “The Mooseman” meticulously and talentedly embodied:
Elk Yun – Creator of the Universe and People. From the shell of the duck egg, EN created a world divided into three tiers: the lower world with dark entities is located in the gloomy depths of the ocean, the middle world is our human, and the upper world is the refuge of the gods. Yen has seven Shaman sons – a murmur capable of moving between worlds … This very thorny path for one of the shamans, we players, and overcome.
The path between worlds, of course, is nonukgamblingsites.co.uk/ full of tests. Great forces will resist the hero in the way. However, there are intercessors.
It is important that the game has real historical value, one might even say, reliability – it is developed in close cooperation with the Perm Museum of Local Lore. The project is based on real museum artifacts – bizarre (and therefore not boring!) archaeological finds. Moving according to the plot, the player discovers strange totems belonging to the so -called “Perm animal style”. We learn about each find directly from the pages of local history books. It is interpreted that it is the place of detection of the find. For example, they found a wonderful artifact, and the menu is already waiting for an explanation: “Anthroposomorphic idol with four heads and wings. Found in the coastal scree on the Yazva River in 1965 … “. Fascinating excursion into history.
This is what an encyclopedia menu looks like, which is replenished as the player of artifacts is. How the ancestors represented the world! You wonder. But who said they were mistaken.
The game has authentic and minimalistic, however, memorable art design. This is a stylish, discreet, in the Scandinavian -restrained project in the color scheme, in which history is told by images, silhouettes, light and shadow, metaphor. The ethnic sound, inspired by the folk motifs of Komi, helps the perception, and the unexpected voice acting again in the Komi language with subtitles.
On the screen we see a text that is parallel in the original language. The game immerses in an ethnic atmosphere! I have never scattered these plot -binding inserts (and I don’t even know if it is possible – it was just necessary to check!). I listened with great pleasure..
“Human” created in 2017 by the Russian studio with a wonderful hooligan name “Morteshka”. At the same time, the role of the scriptwriter, programmer, gamemerator and artist was performed by one person – Vladimir Beletsky. Here’s what is called, where he was born (and the creator of “Humanity”, they write, from Perm), and there came in handy. 🙂
The path of the shaman in the lower underwater world is especially gloomy and difficult. Rather, get out for land to the world of people! Although there will be in wait for the dangers.
This is an easy -to -circuit platformer (the task is to go and solve passing puzzles), unfortunately, small – passes in 2-3 hours. However, it is possible that this is a sufficient volume for such, not the simplest for the perception of the project (so as not to lose the thread of history, it is better to read all intricate traditions and descriptions of finds). And yes, the game will not amaze with a variety of gameplay, this is somewhat a visual local history encyclopedia with activity (that would be thus local history and history taught!). However, “The Mooseman” precisely deserves attention as a whole, thoughtful and very atmospheric work.
By the way, probably, many have already managed to evaluate the recent release – the Morteshka studio has released its second project – Black Book, now in the ancient Slavic style. I have not launched the game yet, but I have already acquired just support for the sake. Patriots from Gamestroy precisely deserve this. ✊
