Quick recipes of red cabbage

Red cabbage is a healthy and tasty vegetable variety. It has gained popularity for a variety of reasons. Not only is this good for your body, but also adds an interesting flavor to many recipes. Its other names are purple cabbage or red kraut, and it is a proud member of the Brassicaceae family.

Benefits Of Red Cabbage

The antioxidant components present in red cabbage in high quantities make it extremely important as a preventative measure to cancer. The vegetable is extremely low in calories and high in dietary fiber and thus is a great vegetable for weight loss. It also improves the health of skin and acts as a shield from the harmful rays of the sun.

It is very effective in boosting the immune system and therefore makes our body well prepared for a host of infections out there.

I am writing a list of recipes below that you would love to incorporate into your meals.

Recipe 1

Red Cabbage And Coriander Salad

Crispy in texture and vibrant in appearance, this salad mix is a delight to all the health freaks out there.

Start the process by removing away the coarse outer leaves of the cabbage(1/2 head of red cabbage)

Then Slice its thick stem into half and take out the stem it half right through the thick stem and take out the stem. Along with this, slice the cabbage into thin strips and peel the onion(1 onion). After peeling the onion, slice it into thin round shapes.

After this heat a large heavy base pot on a medium to high flame.

Now pour 60 ml of olive oil and add 60 ml (1/4 cup) red wine vinegar, 1 Tbsp of coriander seeds, 3  finely chopped garlic cloves, 1 Tbsp of caraway seeds, 2 red chilies, de-seeded and chopped, 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper, 1 Tbsp of sugar and 1/2 tsp sea salt, 1 Tbsp brown or white sugar, 1 Tbsp of white wine vinegar, Juice of 1 lemon,A small handful of coriander leaves, washed and chopped and 4-5 finely chopped spring onions,

After adding these ingredients properly stir the mixture for about 3 or 4 minutes and then reduce the heat to medium flame and cook for another 15 to 20 minutes stirring occasionally.

If the mixture appears dry then add a few more tablespoons of oil or vinegar. Cook, till this becomes soft  After it gets properly cooked add salt and pepper (according to taste), Then take a large bowl and combine all the ingredients together. Cover and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes until chilled.

Serve cold.

Recipe 2

Braised Red Cabbage with Bell Peppers and Green Apples

Again a colorful recipe brimming with nutrition and interesting flavors.

Start by marinating the chopped red and yellow bell peppers, 1/2 a red cabbage shredded, green and red apples(both 1/2), onion( 1 medium sliced), salt to taste, 1Tbsp of vegetable oil,1/2 each red and yellow bell peppers, brown sugar(1/2 cup) and red wine vinegar(1/2 cup).

Now add in a few black peppercorns and a cinnamon stick for flavor. After this keep the marinated cabbage overnight in the fridge so that it properly absorbs the marinade. Now slowly cook the marinated red cabbage until it turns tender. Your yummy dish is ready to be served.
