Discovering The Recipes Of Celery Leaves

As promised, here we are to talk about recipes of celery leaves. But before that, I would like to shed some light on celery leaves

Celery leaves are one of the most underrated vegetables and are usually treated as a throwaway item.

The reality is completely different. Celery leaves are delicious, nutritious and rich in flavor!

Benefits

The calcium available in celery leaves also influences nerve health and muscle function. The Vitamin E constituent in celery has antioxidant properties. Most of the fat in celery leaves are polyunsaturated and hence is a healthy kind of a fat. This influences the cholesterol in a positive way and also lowers the risk of heart diseases.

I have written some recipes below that you would enjoy making and eating

 

Recipe 1

Celery Leaves Pakoda

This tastes just amazing with a cup of masala chai and serves as the perfect evening snack.

Start the process by, mixing besan, ½ tsp red chili powder, turmeric powder, baking soda, salt, asafoetida, 3 tbsp hot oil and sufficient water in a bowl and whisk well to make a smooth batter. The batter should not be thick.

Alongside rinse the leaves well with water and dry them up

Now start to dip each leaf in batter and deep fry till they turn golden brown and crisp from all the sides.

After taking them out,  let the extra oil drain out on an absorbent paper. To add more taste, sprinkle chaat masala and remaining red chili powder.

Your Celery leaves Pakodas are ready to be served hot.

Recipe 2

Celery Leaves Pesto

This is very easy to make and extremely light for the tummy. All the weight watchers and fitness freaks, this one is a good recipe to keep in mind!

Start by taking 2 garlic cloves in a food processor and blend them well. Now add 1/2 cup of walnuts or almonds, 2 to 3 cups of celery leaves and blend them well.

Now scrape the sides of the bowl well followed by a second blending cycle where you need to take 3/4 cup to 1 cup of olive oil.

After this add 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese and season it with salt and pepper to taste. Your celery leaves pesto is ready!
