Celebrating The Recipes of Celery Stalk

Celery is marked by a crispy texture, and it’s innate green colour. Its flavour is very strong and distinct.

Therefore, a little bit of it added to a dish can make any boring dish an interesting piece of edible.


The benefits of celery are the most when it is taken as a juice. Celery is very healthy and it provides hydration to the body. This vegetable also aids in equalizing the body’s PH balance.

It is also good for people suffering from arthritis, rheumatism, and gout especially because it has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce swelling and pain around the joints.

Recipe 1

Mushroom, Celery and Garlic Soup

Start the process by heating 2 Tsps of Oil in a heating pan. Now add mushrooms(40), celery(4 stalks), and garlic(3 cloves) and sauté for about two to three minutes. Now Add half the vegetable stock( Out of the 4 cups taken )and again cook for two to three minutes.

Mix all the vegetables properly in a blender until smooth and pour this mix in a pan followed by addition of the remaining stock.

After this, add Worcestershire sauce(You can easily get this on Amazon or any Gourmet Food Store)and grated nutmeg.

Now bring this mix to a boil and season the soup with salt and black pepper powder.(According to taste)Stir in cream and mix well.

Now add 2 Tbsps of fresh cream and stir it well.  Garnish this with celery leaves. Your soup is ready to be served hot.

Recipe 2

Celery Stalk Chutney

This is a zesty recipe! This would add lots of interest to many boring dishes!

Start the process by heating 1/2 Tsp of oil in a pan. When the oil becomes hot add the mustard seed, urad dal, cumin seeds(1/4 Tsp of each). When they start to crackle add a few curry leaves to the mix.

Now add the onions(1/4 of a large chopped red onion),  salt(according to taste) green chili(1), garlic(1 pod chopped) and saute this mix until translucent.

After this add the chopped celery(a bunch). Saute the leaves for about 3 to 4 mins. Add the lemon juice or tamarind piece.

Finally add cilantro leaves(few stalks), ginger(1/4 inch piece finely chopped) and saute for 2 mins and stop cooking. Allow this to cool for a while.

After this cools down, blend it to a paste with a fine consistency. Your celery chutney is ready to be served with dosa/idly.
