Recipe 1

French Beans Sabzi

This sabzi is quick to make and is also quite filling for the tummy. You can read the recipe below.

Start the process by heating 2 Tbsps of oil in a non-stick pan, add 1 Tsp of mustard seeds and let them splutter. After this add 1 Tsp of cumin seeds,  1/2 Tsp of asafoetida and 2 roughly chopped green chillies and sauté for about half a minute. Now add one medium chopped onion and 1/2 Tsp of turmeric powder and sauté for two more minutes.

Now, comes in the time to add 10-12 chopped french beans into the mix. After adding them, sauté, reduce heat, cover and cook for two to three minutes. Open the lid after that, add salt to taste and 1 tsp of sugar and mix well. Cover again and cook till the French beans are tender.

For garnishing add 3 tbsps of freshly grated coconut and mix well and switch off the flame. Finally, transfer to a serving dish, and serve hot with chapatis.

Recipe 2

French Beans & Tomato Gravy

This mix of tangy tomato and the mild greens is just too scrumptious. The recipe is quite easy, you can have a look at it below.

Start the process by chopping a bunch of french beans into thin long pieces. Take 3 medium tomatoes, 1 Tsp ginger, 1 Tsp garlic and chop them into small pieces.

After this, take 2 Tsp of oil in a pan and add 1 Tsp of cumin seeds to it. Once, they start to crackle, add one medium finely chopped onion, previously chopped ginger and garlic to it. Now saute this mixture until it turns golden in colour and add the tomatoes.

Cook this till it is soft and add 1/2 Tsp turmeric powder, 1 Tsp red chilli powder, 1 and 1/2 Tsp coriander powder and fry for two minutes till the gravy leaves the sides of the pan.

Now add the french beans, salt to taste, mix up and add half a cup of water. Lower the flame, cover the pan and leave it for sometime till it is cooked.  You have the choice to also make it without adding onions.

Your French beans and tomato gravy is ready to be devoured and can be served with rice, chapatti or puris.
